The NRC Women’s Fellowship met on Tuesday evening, August 11 to work on a variety of projects focused primarily on knitting and crocheting. The women shared their creations, provided some basic instructions and enjoyed catching up with one another. Some of the projects included baby afghans for new mothers in need, tracheotomy bibs and lap blankets for veterans at the VA and children’s scarves. Others continue to work on the greeting cards that were the subject of the July meeting. These beautifully handcrafted cards will be offered for sale at the September Flea Market to fund the group’s benevolence projects. We thank Sharon Jackson for providing the delicious refreshments for August meeting!
All women are invited to join us for our next meeting at 7:00 PM on September 8 when Ann Duncan will teach us to make fleece blankets for either babies, vets, or others in need. One yard of 58-60″ wide fabric is sufficient to make 2 blankets. Please feel free to bring fabric of your choice, or work with what is available.
Upcoming meetings will each focus on a different activity; we can learn to do something perhaps new to us, while serving a neighbor in need. In October, Mary Ivey has arranged to bring a speaker to talk with us about the Mooncatcher Project, designed to help young women in Africa. Our November meeting will be led by Ellie van Pelt who will teach us to make Swedish Heart Ornaments. We are still looking for women to lead our monthly meetings in December and beyond. To sign up or to get further information, please contact Trudy Lehner.
