Giving Tuesday is on November 28th this year!  Below you’ll hear a story from Shawn Nixon, who not only is a guest of the food pantry but also a volunteer! The Rev. Phil Food Pantry initiative provides groceries, including produce, protein, and shelf-stable goods to every guest like Shawn. Join SiCM in #GivingHope!

Shawn’s Story

“Shawn Nixon has been coming to SiCM’s food pantry while supporting his three children. He has been living in Schenectady for about 10 years and currently resides in the Mount Pleasant area, which is where one of our mobile pantries are! Shawn heard about SiCM’s food pantry by word of mouth through the community and feels the program has benefited his family significantly.  Shawn’s vision for his family is that they continue staying healthy and having access to groceries. He would also like, for him and others, to keep utilizing community programs, like the Rev. Phil Food Pantry.”

Giving Tuesday with SiCM’s Food Pantry

The food pantry is beneficial to SiCM’s mission on food insecurity. The Rev. Phil Food Pantry helps to bridge the gap between food access and the Schenectady community. SiCM distributes groceries to guests not only through the food pantry, but also by delivery and through our multiple mobile pantries. Our food pantry provided fresh produce and pantry staples to over 10,000 community members this past year! We also have around 50 wonderful volunteers who dedicate their time to the pantry and help support SiCM’s mission.
