We at SiCM want to say THANK YOU for volunteering with the Summer Meals program this year. SiCM is nothing without the help of volunteers and we certainly could not have had this program without all of you.
This year was filled just about every obstacle one could imagine. We extend sincerest our apologies to everyone who was affected by the sudden changes in the schedule and miscommunications. In the words of the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius, “By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” Thank you for sticking with us as we all continue to learn how to better serve the community through experience and reflection.
With that being said, if you have any suggestions that you feel may help us next year, we would love to hear them. You may email them to me directly. We appreciate any and all feedback, as working together leads to greater possibilities and better outcomes.
A huge thank you to the gracious volunteers who remained flexible and understanding throughout the Summer and who continued to offer to help out even when their scheduled week was over. Thank you to the site leaders who organized and managed their volunteers, made sure everyone had their training forms completed and signed and who are just plain awesome.
The biggest thank you goes out on behalf of the children in Schenectady, who had food in their tummies all Summer long thanks to all of you. We are still in the process of tallying the total meals served this Summer, but one thing is for sure, this would not have been possible if not for all of you, thank you.
We really hope you will join us again next year in doing it all over again, hopefully with no pandemic and fewer complications.
