July Mission & Service

Our Mission of the Month Collection will benefit the Bus Stop Club.  The mission of the Bus Stop Club is to provide sibling support and family memories through encouragement and support for the siblings of children with critical illness or developmental, physical, or intellectual disabilities. The goal is to provide FREE emotional and recreational support in a fun and safe environment. In January of 2005, Dr. Brian Sheridan, a third-year pediatric resident at the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center, launched Bus Stop Club-a program which would allow for primary consideration of the well child in the comprehensive care of chronically ill children. Dr. Sheridan’s goal was to establish a program solely for siblings-one that would provide support through preventative intervention mechanisms designed to enhance sibling adaptation and enable them to remain emotionally healthy and well-adjusted in order to cope with one of the worst hardships any member of the family can endure.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Summer collection for SiCM and City Mission (July and August) will be School Supplies for Schenectady school students.  Items always appreciated include backpacks, binders, lead and colored pencils, spiral and composition notebooks, calculators, pens…any tool that will help aid learning in the classroom.  Thank you for your continued generosity.

At long last, SiCM is finally able to resume site-based summer meals for the children of Schenectady. Mobile delivery continues for some areas; however, we have been able to sign up for Wallingford Park in Mont Pleasant, a familiar location to many of us.  SiCM is requesting 4 NRC volunteers per day for the week of July 18-22, from 12:15-1:30 PM.  Please text Michele Kopp at 518-424-3825 if you are interested in helping out.  Thank you all for your continued support of this program!
