NRC’s Mission and Service Committee was responsible for the July 12th soup kitchen at the Schenectady Salvation Army. Volunteers served a summer-time lunch of hot dogs, coleslaw and potato chips. Fruit cocktail and chocolate chip cookies were served with the main dish. A total of 145 guests were served.
Prior to the serving of the meal, SICM Representative Esther Decena thanked NRC volunteers with a “sweet” treat for each volunteer, and presented a certificate to NRC for our services over the past year. We fed 698 hungry mouths from July 2015 – June 2016.
Thanks to Eileen Eldred, Dorilee Male, Linda Matt, Karen Moak, Paul Russell, Rocky Stewart and Barbara Valenti for donating their time this month! And, a huge thank you to the congregation for your contributions to the program. The next lunch is scheduled for Wednesday, August 17th. If you would like to help serve, please sign the sheet in the narthex, or contact the church office.
