“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” – Lamentations 3:22-24
The first twenty verses of Lamentations 3 are filled with the writer grieving all the afflictions that they have endured. Even with a downcast soul, the writer claims an attitude of hope because of God’s everlasting love. Our soul can be weighed down by many things going on in the world as well as the self-talk going on in our heads.
“I’m not doing enough”.
“I’m not good at my job.”
“I’m a terrible parent.”
While the afflictions around us and in us may be numerous, let us not despair but hold onto hope because of God’s great love.
