Staying Connected

This too shall pass”. Where have we heard that before? And, we’ve been hearing it a lot lately. Heard so often in fact, the reaction to it is, “Yeah, everybody knows that.” And yet, the phrase is still used routinely. Why? Where does it come from? It sounds almost biblical but it isn’t.

2 Corinthians 4v.17-18  does tell us about viewing life on earth as temporary, and then, there is eternal life we cannot view. The reality of life on this earth is that bad times do not always go away and things do not always get better. But that is acceptable in our sight, as Christians, because life on this earth for us eventually passes on to an incomparable eternal life.

In the meantime, we can help each other with our current problems. We don’t need career reporters to scour the world for stories of despair and misery. We have church members right here with stories we all can relate to and we can help with at least some of their needs and they can help us too with solutions they’ve found. For example; You need a meal? We can set up a Meal Train. You need a ride? We’ll supply one. You can’t figure out how to join us on zoom with video on your computer? We’ll talk you through it, etc, etc..

Seems like every TV news or talk show program tells us how bad isolation is. It doesn’t have to be for us. We talk with our church friends and “pew-mates” probably more than we ever have. Some of the ways we do it:

ZOOM – After Sunday church service before the meeting is ended we have some time.

                – Coffee Hour after Sunday’s service.

                – Wednesday Coffee Hour

                – Committee meetings

                – Women’s Fellowship Group

                – Women’s Book Group

                – Consistory meetings

NEW   – Wednesday morning walks at Lion’s Park

CALL, MESSAGE, E-MAIL – What are you waiting for?

QUESTIONS? CALL the Church 518-785-5575 or E-MAIL office@niskayunareformed.org

     MUSIC – Special Music invitation

                    – Bell Choir

PRAYER – We have a “Chain” for that!

AND MORE – We’ve never actually practiced social distancing, we socialize as we are physically distanced.  We can do more of that as the weather improves! Golf anyone?

Not just talking, sometimes just listening can be of greater service than speaking. Blessed are those who serve others along the way. From 2 Corinthians 1v.4, a version of that message: …He brings us together with someone who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.
